Review: Fido

August 25th, 2008 Movies 1 Comment »

I’m not kidding when I say this has become my favorite zombie comedy. I enjoyed this more that Shaun of the Dead even! It is beautiful film, visually and mentally! I enjoyed every moment of this movie!

Maybe I just enjoyed this movie so much because have a love for zombies. If you are a fan of zombies and horror genres, this is a must! As long as you like a little comedy too! Even if you are not a fan of zombie movies, I believe you could still find this movie quite enjoyable.

The film takes place in a fictional alternate universe where radiation from space has turned the dead into zombies. Radiation, which still lingers in the atmosphere, still plagues humanity as all those who die after the orginal contamination turn into the undead. In order to continue living normal lives without the threat of zombies, humanity encloses itself in fenced cities with the help of a governing corporation named Zomcom. Humans eventually domesticate zombies using collars that control their hunger for flesh and use them as slaves. One day, housewife Helen Robinson buys a zombie in spite of her husband Bill’s fear. Their son, Timmy, befriends the zombie, naming him “Fido”. One day, Fido’s collar malfunctions and he eats their next door neighbor….

Review: Lars and the Real Girl

August 25th, 2008 Movies No Comments »

I when my mother asked me to watch this movie I almost said no. I had never even heard of this movie before. She had me watch the previews, which made it sound like a silly comedy movie. Don’t let the previews fool you, because this movie is more of a drama than a comedy if you ask me. Sure, it has it’s comical parts. The plotline is even comical. A man falls in love with a sex doll, which he believes is real. But the movie has a lot of seriousness to it.

It was not a bad movie, but as a comedy it could have been funnier.

Review: The Dark Knight

August 25th, 2008 Movies No Comments »

My first thought of The Dark Knight was that it was just going to be overrated, but when I saw it I changed my mind. The only real flaw when I went to see this movie was the theater I went to, because the film messed up in the middle of it. The movie had me on the edge of my seat the whole time! This movie was nothing less than what you would expect. Every moment will have your attention. I even had to use the restroom since the beginning of the movie, but I held it in the whole time just because I didn’t want to miss a thing. It easily deserves a 5 out of 5.

I’m not going to give any spoilers. Just go see it if you haven’t already!

One new project, too many decisions

August 8th, 2008 Internet, Zombify.org 2 Comments »

So I finally have a real community project to get my little hands into. Even though I already had plenty of tasks I need to finish, I am ever so excited about this one! I’m not saying I hate this website, but as a personal blogging/graphics website, it is nowhere near as interesting to me as making a website for a community of people! Knowing that I’m not just making a website for myself makes me feel great! Plus I need the experience!

So what is it? It is a World of Warcraft guild website! Two guilds on the Firetree server are about to make a merge! Being the sister and friend of the current leaders, I wanted to help out. I want to make a guild website with all the basics and more. I don’t only want raid schedules and character information, I want a website that will bring the guild members close together. I want to make the members feel like family!

So I’ll probably use Nuoriffic for the domain, since really nuoriffic is doing nothing but hosting little things at the moment. Plus the name would go with our guild name, Narcoleptic Unicorns, which came from the initials “NUO”.

Nuoriffic MB will still be around for awhile, but might end up merging with in the new website.

Anyways, I’m trying to make a decision: Drupal or Joomla? Both look really nice and have plenty of nifty extensions, but I can’t decide which would be right for the new website!

Where ever you go, mEgo!

I haven’t updated in awhile, so I decided I will share a neat little thing called mEgo! Now I wouldn’t call it useful, but it is a very cute idea! The best way I can describe mEgo is like a small portable profile! MEgo works with Flickr, Twitter, Amazon, YouTube, PhotoBucket, Last.FM, Del.icio.us, NetFlix, and even RSS feeds. You don’t really need me to explain it, as I have included my mEgo in this post!

Review: Hancock

July 7th, 2008 Movies 1 Comment »

Hancock was slightly disappointing. Will Smith has played in some great movies, like Independence Day and I Am Legend. Hancock is definitely not one of the best of them. I’m not going to say it was a terrible movie. I was entertained and it did have it’s funny parts. The idea for the movie was pretty neat! But the whole movie just lacked something. I felt like I was waiting for something the whole movie, but it never happened.

Now don’t let that stop you from seeing it. It really is a decent funny movie. Just don’t expect too much.

Also the graphics made it seem very corny at times. It made me feel like I was watching some low budget film. Sometimes the graphics just totally killed the effect of the emotion in a scene. For example, there is a scene that is suppose to be sad, but the special effects made me giggle.

It was like eating an ice cream cone without the cone; it still taste good, just a little messy.

Review: WALL-E

WALL E

At first I was a little unsure about WALL-E; the previews didn’t show me much except that it was cute child’s movie. The movie was indeed impressive to me. It did something that most movies don’t: use minimal words. Now the movie did have it’s moments of speech, but the majority of the movie was focused on two robots that spoke one word lines. This may sound like a turn off to some, but the movie was never short of emotion. It didn’t really need dialogue to make you laugh or cry.

I would suggest it to anyone who likes comedy, romance, or even sci-fi movies! It is certainly the best animated film I have seen this year.

It starts out on Earth, which became inhabitable for human to live on. That’s where WALL-E comes in, a robot built to clean up the mess. Then another robot named EVE comes to Earth searching for life. Not to long after they build a friendship. But not to long after that EVE gets taken back into space. WALL-E, of course, goes to rescue is new love interest.

LJXP

Now that ljxp has been updated to work with WordPress version 2.5, I have reinstalled it! Hurrah!

I’ve also added some other plugins. One of my favorites being Lighter Menus. It makes navigating the Wordpress administration area 200 times faster!

I also wanted to try SimpleLife, but I kept getting errors on the plugin menu. It looks like a wonderful plugin if you get it to work though!

I worked a little bit on a layout for Zombify as well. I changed the look once again. I’ll probably stick with the idea, since it’ll be a lot more flexible than the last idea.

I should have a lot more done on this website this week. I have become super motivated once again.

Easily amuzed or simply bored

I finally sat down and decided to make some PS brushes. I find it so interesting how really anything can turn into a brush! Anyways, I made two today. One is just a textual brush with lyrics from Blink182’s I Miss You. The second one is a grungey type brush made from pictures I took when a tree fell on my boyfriend’s car. They’ll be up and ready to download, along with some more brushes, hopefully this week.

Preview of the new layout

Of course it still needs a lot of work. I might not even end up using it. Not sure I like the roundness of it. But it was an idea that was stuck in my head for quite awhile. First I want to work on the more important stuff, like a little more content on the site, then I shall focus more on the layout. Should be up by some time this month though.
