Review: Fido

Monday, August 25th, 2008

I’m not kidding when I say this has become my favorite zombie comedy. I enjoyed this more that Shaun of the Dead even! It is beautiful film, visually and mentally! I enjoyed every moment of this movie!

Maybe I just enjoyed this movie so much because have a love for zombies. If you are a fan of zombies and horror genres, this is a must! As long as you like a little comedy too! Even if you are not a fan of zombie movies, I believe you could still find this movie quite enjoyable.

The film takes place in a fictional alternate universe where radiation from space has turned the dead into zombies. Radiation, which still lingers in the atmosphere, still plagues humanity as all those who die after the orginal contamination turn into the undead. In order to continue living normal lives without the threat of zombies, humanity encloses itself in fenced cities with the help of a governing corporation named Zomcom. Humans eventually domesticate zombies using collars that control their hunger for flesh and use them as slaves. One day, housewife Helen Robinson buys a zombie in spite of her husband Bill’s fear. Their son, Timmy, befriends the zombie, naming him “Fido”. One day, Fido’s collar malfunctions and he eats their next door neighbor….

Review: Lars and the Real Girl

Monday, August 25th, 2008

I when my mother asked me to watch this movie I almost said no. I had never even heard of this movie before. She had me watch the previews, which made it sound like a silly comedy movie. Don’t let the previews fool you, because this movie is more of a drama than a comedy if you ask me. Sure, it has it’s comical parts. The plotline is even comical. A man falls in love with a sex doll, which he believes is real. But the movie has a lot of seriousness to it.

It was not a bad movie, but as a comedy it could have been funnier.

Review: The Dark Knight

Monday, August 25th, 2008

My first thought of The Dark Knight was that it was just going to be overrated, but when I saw it I changed my mind. The only real flaw when I went to see this movie was the theater I went to, because the film messed up in the middle of it. The movie had me on the edge of my seat the whole time! This movie was nothing less than what you would expect. Every moment will have your attention. I even had to use the restroom since the beginning of the movie, but I held it in the whole time just because I didn’t want to miss a thing. It easily deserves a 5 out of 5.

I’m not going to give any spoilers. Just go see it if you haven’t already!

Review: Hancock

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Hancock was slightly disappointing. Will Smith has played in some great movies, like Independence Day and I Am Legend. Hancock is definitely not one of the best of them. I’m not going to say it was a terrible movie. I was entertained and it did have it’s funny parts. The idea for the movie was pretty neat! But the whole movie just lacked something. I felt like I was waiting for something the whole movie, but it never happened.

Now don’t let that stop you from seeing it. It really is a decent funny movie. Just don’t expect too much.

Also the graphics made it seem very corny at times. It made me feel like I was watching some low budget film. Sometimes the graphics just totally killed the effect of the emotion in a scene. For example, there is a scene that is suppose to be sad, but the special effects made me giggle.

It was like eating an ice cream cone without the cone; it still taste good, just a little messy.

Review: WALL-E

WALL E

At first I was a little unsure about WALL-E; the previews didn’t show me much except that it was cute child’s movie. The movie was indeed impressive to me. It did something that most movies don’t: use minimal words. Now the movie did have it’s moments of speech, but the majority of the movie was focused on two robots that spoke one word lines. This may sound like a turn off to some, but the movie was never short of emotion. It didn’t really need dialogue to make you laugh or cry.

I would suggest it to anyone who likes comedy, romance, or even sci-fi movies! It is certainly the best animated film I have seen this year.

It starts out on Earth, which became inhabitable for human to live on. That’s where WALL-E comes in, a robot built to clean up the mess. Then another robot named EVE comes to Earth searching for life. Not to long after they build a friendship. But not to long after that EVE gets taken back into space. WALL-E, of course, goes to rescue is new love interest.

Happy New Years!

Tuesday, January 1st, 2008

I hope everyone had a nice, safe New Years Eve! I know I did. I watched Dead and Deader and drank sparkling apple cider with Bradley. :)

Dead and Deader was a pretty good movie. Even if the graphics were not the greatest, it was interesting and it had some likable characters. It also had a good amount of humor in it, but not too much to where it is completely ridiculous.

My New Year’s resolutions?

  1. Work on my websites more
  2. Improve in my art
  3. Spend time wisely
  4. Try my best in college
  5. Try not to get mad easily

What are your resolutions?

Happy Holidays

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

On Christmas eve, I spent most of the morning baking cookies. At 5:30pm I went over to Bradley’s house to celebrate Christmas. Unfortunately, Bradley had to work until 8pm. At least he got to have break for dinner though. Dinner was good, there were all sorts of yummy foods. After he ate he pretty much had to go back to work for an hour. While I was waiting I started to play Portal until I got kicked off the computer. Then I went to go drink some delicious eggnog and eat some apple pie.

When Bradley returned everyone opened some presents. I got presents too, but I’ll talk more about presents in a bit. Then everyone pretty much just hung out. I started playing Portal again. I didn’t catch on to how the portals worked, but I eventually caught on. It seems like a pretty cool game. I’d like to play some more of it anyways.

Bradley and me eventually went over to Kyle’s house to exchange presents. Kyle got this extremely cute gray mini schnauzer! It came up to me and lied down on my lap, and quickly fell asleep there. It was so adorable!

When we got back to Bradley’s house we both had to go to bed so “Santa could come.”

On Christmas morning I was awaken to watch Bradley and his little sister open their Christmas presents. Watching his sister really made me miss when I use to believe in Santa Claus and play with toys. Being older is somewhat boring compared to the childhood days.

After that Bradley took me back to my house to open presents there. I also gave Bradley his presents, which made me happy because I think he was somewhat surprised at what I bought him. I love it when I do things right. Then my mom cook breakfast: biscuits and gravy and eggs. After eating Bradley and I went back to his house. We just showered and hung out. Afterwards we picked up Crystal and went back to my house for dinner.

Later that night I went to go see Alien vs Predator 2 with Bradley, C-chan, and Dominique. It wasn’t really a great movie. I think I’m going to make a parody comic of it.

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!

Today I worked on this site. I added the WordBook and the Xanga Crosspost plugin!

I also messed around on my Xanga! If you don’t have an Xanga, you should make one and become my friend. If you already have one, add me!

Crystal also convinced me to make a Vox account. This is going to be a doodle log! I’ll post some pictures I doodle in it! Feel free to add me!Check it out.

Anyways, what did I get for Christmas? (more…)

movie

Last Monday Crystal, Kyle, and me all went to Bradley’s house to play Halo. It was a lot of fun. I hope we can get together more often to play. Then Tuesday Crystal came to college with Bradley and me. She watched a movie with me in my first class, anthropology, since there was a substitute teacher. We watched The Education of Shelby Knox. It is a documentary about a girl trying to get sexual education in her school. It deals with religious and sexual differences. Really, it wasn’t such a bad movie; it kept me watching it. It was terrible how the school board would just completely ignore the group’s opinion, and the protest against gays was absolutely sickening.

After second period we lost Crystal. We looked all over campus for her just to find out Paul left her in the wrong building. Nothing else really special happened at school worthy of talking about. After school we went to Bento Cafe. One of the waitresses gave us the wrong type of drink. She gave us boba teas with pearls but we asked for without. The pearls taste quite nasty in my opinion. When she came back with the new drinks, it was the same drink, but with the pearls scooped out. Since the straws were too small, the left over pearls in the tea got stuck in my straw. I was pretty angry and I really felt like punching the girl. Bento Cafe was my favorite restaurant, and I really don’t want to hate the place because some bitch screwing up my drink. I just wanted to take Crystal on a fun day out, but everything just seemed to go wrong.
